• Often described as the gateway to Henry County, Stockbridge is its county seat and northernmost city. Situated only about 20 miles south of Atlanta, and 12 miles east of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the city is just off Interstates 75 and 675.
• Stockbridge has grown steadily since 2000, when its population was under 10,000. Today, it has an estimated population of approximately 30,000 but it still retains its small-town ambience. Stockbridge boasts a favorable business and economic climate and supportive public services.
• The city is home to Panola State Park, with its striking granite mountain. One of only three Georgia national heritage areas, the park features two lakes, a bike path and 25 miles of hiking trails, along with an amphitheater, nature center, and event pavilion. It is a popular destination just minutes from the big city.

Stockbridge Schools and Education

• Henry County Schools operate ten elementary campuses in Stockbridge, as well as two middle schools and two high schools. Between one quarter and one third of high school students are enrolled in Advanced Placement courses.
• The district has an enrollment of approximately 40,000 students, with more than 1,500 teachers and administrators. There are a total of 28 elementary schools, 11 middle schools and 10 high schools.

• Lake Spivey Lake Spivey is a 600-acre private lake shared by residents of eight surrounding communities in Henry and Clayton Counties. A feature is the Reid Stephens Heritage Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. Also nearby is Clayton County International Park, built for the 1996 Summer Olympics and now a family park where beach volleyball fans can play where the Olympic athletes competed.

• Floyd Chapel Baptist Church Martin Luther King, Sr. was born in Stockbridge. Reverend King Sr. preached his first sermon, at age 15, at Floyd Chapel Baptist Church, where visitors are welcome to attend regular Sunday services.
